Learn About Assistant Trainer Aspen Thurman

Aspen Thurman was born and raised in a small town in southeast Nebraska. She took riding lessons for a few years as a young girl. In high school, she began working at a mixed practice veterinary clinic. Two years into her position as a veterinary assistant, she started assisting an equine veterinarian. Ever since, she has wanted to be a large animal veterinarian.

After graduating high school, she moved to Fort Collins to study at Colorado State University. She is currently enrolled as a fourth year student, pursuing a degree in Biomedical Sciences, with a concentration in anatomy and physiology. She hopes to obtain a masters degree before applying to veterinary schools.

Aspen originally came to Classical Horsemanship as a part of our working student program in May 2023. She loves classical training for its applications to her degree and her future in veterinary medicine. Aspen is now an assistant trainer at Classical Horsemanship. She continues to expand her knowledge of classical training, and loves being able to share it with her students.
